Each story, however, revolves around the endeavors of the heroic men and women in outdoing evil and bringing the good in the society to light and prevail. Most stories, therefore, revolve around defeating an evil leader or monster in the community and leading the people involved in the community in achieving the fruits of the defeat. The peace in community settings and regions is made only after the evil concept in the story has been defeated. In these cases, therefore most of the known heroic adventure revolves around battles with the evil entities and the death of the hero at the end of the story. However, the death does not come without the leader first accomplishing the set objectives of making his people end up in a peaceful community. The story if robin hood follows an almost similar course and has concepts of evil and objective of overcoming these crimes as will be seen in the discussion. However, over time, different artistic and literature has represented the era of robin hood in their different work such as movie songs and stories, each of these, however, has a similar concept of representing a hero who used theft to accomplish his goals. Despite the approach, the motive of the theft was genuinely appreciative of the community. Robin hood was a skilled archer and therefore used a bow. He as considered to be a hero among the poor and deprived in the community but abhorred b the rich and affluent in the community. The reason was that he used his skills and precision in carrying out raid and thefts from the rich and donating the same stolen good to the poor in the community. Form this simple explanation we can perceive robin hood as being one of the most compromising heroes. However, in this case, we can perceive that the hero used theft as his ways of achieving the goals of reduction of suffering from the poor in the community. He was also a skilled swordsman. Robin hood lived In England reign of King Henry the Second. The fame of robin hood was due to his methods and the bravery he had. The was also strong and could go against anyone he perceived to oppose the concept of the community and the rich who oppressed the poor in the community setting. However, in his activities, he happened to kill one of the relativesââ¬â¢ t the sheriff of the city of Nottingham, this led to the increased interest in his arrest form the sheriff. His first plan was to use archery contents to capture Robin. In his devious plan, the sheriff planned archery contents are knowing well that Robin was the most talented archer in the country and that he could not give up an opportunity to attend such an event and tournament. However, he came in disguise as a poor man and received the prize. The sheriff could not discern his form the poor man and therefore did not catch him. Later after the tournament, Robin wrote to the sheriff taunting his of his failure to catch him: ," Now heaven bless thy grace this day, say all is sweet in Sherwood, for thou didst give the prize away to merry Robin Hood." However, his focus was on revenge rather than the justice part mostly. The location on which almost all the ballads and stories and poem on robin hood are the base is Sherwood Forest. Here most of the reference point toward robin hood and his band of Merrie men. The association with the men made a commonplace or reference to the part of associates he used to have who would assist in his activities. Were intangibles used to inflate income and under what accounting treatment was this allowed? Answer: Introduction: The Vocation Limited along with its group was one of the largest vocational training providers in Australia. This group was publicly listed in Australian Stock Exchange and had 22 corporate entities. The group conducted the operation of providing vocational training through online and face-to-face courses. One of the reasons for liquidation is the poor operational procedure of the company. This procedural problem has forced various government clients to review the effectiveness and appropriateness of the courses provided to the student. The another reason that led the company to liquidation is that due to the adverse effect of the review the funding that was received by the government clients are repaid. Discussion: The primary problem comes from the different sets of decision-making issues and operational issues that has resulted towards misrepresentation of financial statements, non-adherence to different sorts transparency and good governance practices. The company was engaged in providing numerous sets of educational services and thereby was dependent upon the feedbacks and reviews gather from both individuals and government clients. The number of students seeking educational courses at its Avana, TDA and other colleges, under the purview of the group, has been left with no other options apart from dropping a year or seeking education elsewhere (Preiss, 2015). The subsequent evaluation of the different sets of courses has resulted towards aggravating the prospects of the company as large form of operational and financial performance issues were cropping up. The problem ensued when the Bawn and Aspin colleges received less than favorable reviews resulting in loss of grants and contracts from Victorian Government. Three primary issues in the current case arise from the degree of mismanagement in terms of company operations showcased by the company performance. The inconsistency in terms of asset management and managing of operations resulted in insolvency on the part of organization. The degree of irrationality on the part of the company towards non-disclosure of financial information in turn has extended suspension of trading of Vocation Limiteds stocks. The suspension of securities of Vocation Limited from trading in the ASX coupled with the lack of support from different sets of shareholders tends to display the magnitude of financial management issues. In 2015 due to operational inefficiencies, there was a significant reduction in the revenue of the company. In 2015, a review was ordered by the DDECD on the three courses offered by the company and its group in order to ensure compliance. It is concluded from the review that some students were enrolled in wrong courses. It was further highlighted in the review procedure that few of the quality procedure of the group were inadequate and hence the company faced reputational damage that adversely affected the profit and finance of the company. The direct impact of the adverse review was that approximately $20 million of the government fundi ng was withdrawn from the company and as result, the operation of the Aspin and BAWM was ceased (How the threat of class actions resulted in financial ruining of Vocation. 2015). There was further review that was conducted by the government that further highlighted the operational weakness of the company as a result $27 million government funding was withdrawn. The company suffered from the loss of several institutional customers and this mainly due to the negative reviews of the public surrounding the organization. The review about the organization was regarding the enrollment of the students in such courses, which were inappropriate. The quality procedures of the group were also inappropriate. The funding by the government in reviewing the groups were withdrawn as it was resulting in expenses and this resulting in the ceasing of the operation of Aspin and BAMW (How John Dawkins' Vocation went wrong. 2016). The organization suffered several reputational damage due to the review conducted upon it. This caused a decline in the referral of the Vocation group by the third party. The company witnessed a great decline in the revenue due to the negative reviews getting prevalent. And this was compounded by the disposal of its various groups. In the financial year 2015, the group revenue suffered a great decline and this was accompanied by the los s resulting from the disposal of the assets. Mainly the factor that relates to the customers contracts has been at the forefront in terms of unsatisfactory level of financial performance (Ferrierhodgson.com. 2016). Goodwill and relationships were mainly attributable to its decline. The provisions of revenue also increased due to the increment in the legal and the consulting fees. This resulted in the termination of the customer contracts and resulted in the unavailability of the funds for operations and the key stakeholders support was lacking due to which the operation of the company under this group was ceased. Therefore, it is sought that appointing the voluntary administrator would be the better option so that the interest of the creditors, shareholders, staffs and the students of the organization is protected. The organization should also consider the strategic reviews so that all the available options are considered. There were several issues regarding the disclosure of the obligations by the company, which resulted in the commencement of the action lawsuits of the several classes. Some of the information that was disclosed to the creditors was considered inappropriate. The indispensable information relating to the disclosure needs to be provide to the creditors The proceeds realized from the sale of the intellectual property would be made available to the creditors if the proceeds from the non circulating assets would have less priority over the secured creditors of the first ranking until the time the debt is repaid fully. The various details that the ongoing concern receives from the sale proceedings should also need to be disclosed. The company made not all the necessary disclosures to its stakeholders. In order to overcome these operational inefficiencies identified in the review the solution that can be suggested is to provide appropriate work force for various operation that is needed to be performed. Further, there should be proper checks and balances so that no process of the company is unchecked. The company should also conduct operational audit in order to identify weakness and gaps that exist in the operation. The suggested solution will help the management of the company to identify the problems that exist in the operations. In this case study, there are two different points of controllership which are; the corporate controller whose responsibility is to overlook all the financial processes involved in the organization. Chain of command Movement of funds in and out of the company and the way money is spent is solely the responsibility of the corporate controllers of the company. However, the divisional controller reports to the divisional manager who then reports to the corporate controller. From here, information received by the corporate controller is then directed to the organizationââ¬â¢s directors (Ashton 49). The structure as described above has many challenges and mishaps in between and it is for this reason the controller is raising his concerns. The fact that the divisional controller reports to the divisional manager is causing concerns that there is a possibility that the divisional manager may be given biased information since he does not get the information first had from the ground. Bevins suggests that a control structure similar to Martex be applied to bring this matter to rest. His main interest in this company is to make changes that would place the corporate control in a better position to effect reasonable budgets and analyze its performance. However, this effect is watered down by the division controllers as their loyalty is in the division ma nagers and as Bevinââ¬â¢s laments; they have been maliciously submitting inaccurate and biased information about their performance. Reports on budgets are biased and inaccurate and this has raised concerns about the adequacy of the information offered from the division department. Bevins is suggesting that the best solution towards this problem would be implementing the Martex Companyââ¬â¢s method (Banik). The Redell Company like any other business ventureââ¬â¢s aim and main objective is to be profitable and increase in growth. The major issue in the case of the Rendell Company is the conflict of interest between the two departments. A corporate controllerââ¬â¢s responsibility is to ensure that minimum funds are in the budgetary allocations in order to ensure the maximum profitability of a company. The divisional general managerial responsibilities on the other hand include utilization of the companyââ¬â¢s resources in a profitable manner with minimal instances of mak ing losses. The conflict arises as a result of the controller trying to minimize the amount of funds or resources that the manager is asking for (Ashton 49). The management in its own wisdom comes up with a budget but it is the responsibility of the corporate controller to ensure minimum use of funds to realize more profits. This conflict is about different point of views where the manager feels he or she needs more funds to run his or her department and on the other hand the controller sees no need to use such large amounts of the companyââ¬â¢s resource in a single department. Strengths and weaknesses The Martex method has both weak sides and strong sides. One of the strengths in the matrix method is the fact that the divisional controllers are free to perform actions without consulting. Goal congruence is achieved through sharing of benefits. Therefore, they can not work adequately and effectively while they face discrimination and are sidelined by the rest of the team. Having a centralized goal that focuses on the organizational objectives is should be seen as the main agenda in the organization. Focusing on individual managerial objectives with the expectations that it may yield the ultimate common goal can be disappointing at times as there can raise issues of selfishness within the various departments. It should be clearly put that the managerial goals are subsidiary to those of the organization to avoid instance of people pushing for their own selfish agendas. Through out the study, clearly the Rendell Company requires urgent changes to revive its ability reach the set goals. Conclusion For a company to achieve its goals and objectives, there has to be well laid structures that support the intention to reach these goals. This therefore means that the company should always review its policies to ensure that no records of incompetence can be tracked or seen in their activities. Maintaining a good working environment and a clear syste m especially in the levels of hierarchy and power is of paramount importance as it is through workers satisfaction that can get the job done effectively. Recommendations The reason why the two controllers in case above is because one feels undermined and like he is not part of the team as discussed earlier. This feeling hampers his ability to deliver properly in terms of offering services to the organization. This has brought so much tension and is making the two have a conflict. Such conflicts can rise in all levels of the administration and calls for more sober implementation of policies that would avoid such ins tances. In the case we have just studied it is apparent that the Rendell Company requires a more sane structure that would separate the power of the controllers and stipulate each controller with their own position. This would help if the goal congruence is something that a company wishes to achieve whether on the long or short term. Having policies that favor goal congruence is beneficial to the company survival. So as to achieve this though, a good and perfect example has been offered by the Martex company method of management. The corporate controller had already seen this and was suggesting the same be done in the Redell Company to allow for better results and enhance congruence of goals and objectives.
